What Is A Sensory Room?

A sensory room is a calming, immersive space that intentionally combines a variety of stimuli such as sound, colour, light, and tactility.

It is a safe space to reset away from the demands of the outside world, a space to relax, self-regulate, stimulate the senses and develop communication and motor skills.

Who Does A Sensory Room Benefit?

Anyone can benefit from a multi-sensory space, from the general public to people with complex learning needs, and those living with neurodivergent or neurodegenerative conditions. We create multi-sensory environments for a wide variety of sectors, including:

Multi-sensory rooms offer people living with physical disabilities and mental illnesses a safe space to relax, self-soothe, and feel in control. A sensory room helps to:

  • relieve stress, agitation, and symptoms of mental health conditions and neurological disorders
  • provide comfort and encourage emotional regulation
  • prevent sensory overload and meltdowns
  • develop communication and social skills
  • improve fine and gross motor skills

Within the health sector, a compassionate environment also helps individuals feel more open to receiving care and support, improving patient experience and outcomes.

Our Process

Explore

First, we meet with your team for an initial consultation and site survey. We get an understanding of your vision, explore your needs and objectives, and discuss available options. What feel are you aiming to achieve? How is the room going to be used? Is the space primarily for relaxation or for development and therapy? We help you answer all these questions while considering specific needs such as age, learning goals, and mobility.

Design

During the design stage, we combine our industry knowledge and creative expertise to bring your vision to life. We carefully choose furniture, resources, and the layout to suit your needs and budget. A detailed 3D room render shows you exactly how your custom room will look and feel once complete. Once the layout design is finalised, our team will prepare a detailed proposal outlining the complete scope and all associated costs for a 'no surprises' result.

Deliver

Once the order is placed, your project will be scheduled for manufacturing right here in Australia. A project manager will oversee all aspects of delivery and installation. We then deliver and install your sensory room, ensuring it is set up on time, defect-free, and ready for immediate use. After installation, our customer service team is on call for any queries and even modifications if required.
